Home Extension in Nottingham
Home Extension project in Ravenshead, Nottingham designed by Paul Day BSc (Hons) MCIAT of PD Architecture and published in The Self Build and Design Magazine in 2013.
Designed as an Eco-Extension, utilising green technologies for a more energy efficient dwelling.
The sustainable design approach included:
Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery
Rainwater Water Harvesting
Solar PV Panels
Glazed South Facing Screen (with solar shading via an overhanging roof and balcony to avoid overheating)
A high thermal mass to control overheating and help to provide a consistent internal temperature
Underfloor heating
Wood Burning Stove
Architectural Brief: To provide an eco-friendly home extension to mimic a timber frame structure within a defined budget, and to give the existing property an upgraded shell that was both thermally efficient and provided additional kerb appeal.
Location: Ravenshead, Nottingham
