Planning Approved: New Co-Op in Woodthorpe, Nottingham.
We are delighted that our planning application for a new Co-Op in Woodthorpe, (near Arnold) in Nottingham has now been approved.
The planning permission for a 4,000sq.ft. Local Convenience Store, granted by Gedling Borough Council on the 27th February 2023, runs alongside one of our residential development sites and will bring a much needed provision to the local area. Likewise, the store will also undoubtedly benefit from the passing trade on the busy through route on Arno Vale Road in Woodthorpe. The news of the planning application had been largely welcomed by the local community, (Source: Facebook Woodthorpe Nottingham Community Group), and provides a great opportunity for the area – although there were many hoops to jump through to secure the eventual planning approval.
The proposals include for:
– 13 car parking spaces (including 2 Disabled Spaces and 1 Mother and Child Space).
– A well screened ‘Plant Area’ with Sound Attenuation, i.e. Acoustic Boxes and ‘Low Noise’ plant items
– A new site access coupled with a new right turn lane into the the site for additional highway safety
– Further highway safety proposals include the new pedestrian guarding at stores main pedestrian ingress and egress points
Additionally, to reduce the servicing requirements and to prevent unnecessary disturbance, (whilst limiting HGV journeys), waste will be back hauled, (using the delivery vehicles to return to the depot in a single journey with all waste generated at the site providing an efficient and considerate servicing model for the store).

The developer better get a move on then, conditional planning permission with the most recent amendment for the guard rail work states the development must begin no later than 27th February 2026 which is a week away.
We do hope they have made a start in time, we handed the project over to the construction design and building teams after we secured the grant of planning approval . . . so its in their hands now. We are looking forward to seeing this project come to life assuming all is well.
Kind regards Paul @ PD Architecture
Hi when does work begin on the coop on Arnovale rd in Arnold, please?
Hi Paul,
At this stage we have no additional information from the developer, but let’s hope it is soon. It’s going to be a great little convenience store in a great location for many, and one we will certainly be using ourselves.
Kind Regards Paul @ PD Architecture
